A while ago, we had some teens over for a game night and I proceeded to make popcorn on the stove top. I kid you not, one of the teenage boys said to me: "What are you making?" "Popcorn" "On the stove? No Way, I didn't know you could do that!"
I could hardly believe my ears...Microwave popcorn, apparently now the standard for popping corn, was not only a luxury we didn't really indulge in growing up, but I've learned to dislike over the years. To me, it tastes like wax, it's expensive, it has ingredients I can't pronounce.!
Popcorn however, real popcorn, is a pretty great snack. My mom LOVES popcorn. There were times that popcorn was our evening meal. It's relatively healthy as long as you don't pour loads of butter and salt on it. For as long and I can remember and as long as she can remember we've used the Jolly Time Buttery Seasoning as a low calorie way to season our popcorn. It's become another "family secret", that many friends have asked for over the years.
I would highly recomend that you look for it at your local grocer and if they don't have it, request it. Trust me, you'll be glad you did!
I've recently been inspired by a friend to try a give away...if you want to try the seasoning, leave a comment here telling me a memory you have from the past or are currently making with popcorn! I recently purchased it directly from Jolly Time and it came only in four packs. I would love to send one your way! Please include your email so I can contact you directly. Giveaway will be chosen at random, closing Saturday March 13th. Winner announced in Monday's blog post! Good Luck...

I would love to win. What a lovely blog an family you have:)
blessings.
Looks like my kind of giveaway! For budget reasons, I've switched to stove-top or brown bag microwaving popcorn and we love it. It would be grand to have a yummy flavoring to add too! Thanks!

I came across your blog through the Works For Me Wednesday stuff. I have never tried this seasoning and would love to try it out!
I grew up eating a lot of popcorn too. My dad made popcorn every night as a snack - not the microwavable kind, but the good ol' stove top kind! I now make it for kids pretty often!
We had an old beat up pot dedicated to the making of the evening popcorn when I was growing up.
I would love some seasoning!

We love homemade popcorn here...it's the only way to do it! I used to do popcorn for dinner every Sunday night, but we had to stop when I was pregnant...I got too hungry later! We toss it with a little olive oil and salt. (No thanks on the give-away. We have crazy food allergies here) Love your blog...I'll be back to visit again!
Popcorn is one of my families favorite snacks. As a child it was the snack my dad fixed in the spring and summer-- on top of the stove in a beat up pan only used for popcorn. In the fall and winter -- in a special popcorn popper for the fireplace.
Good memories -thanks!
Found you on WFMW! I will have to try this sometime! Love popcorn but not the fat of microwave popcorn.
I wonder if I can find this in Canada.
I used to do the hot air popper popcorn as a kid, then went with microwave, then back to air popper when I learned how bad the microwave stuff was. But the air popcorn comes out too much like styrafoam. I now have a popper that you use with oil and kernels like the stovetop method but it has its own lil turning blade on the bottom. Tastes great!
I love my air popcorn popper. It tastes so much better than microwave, and I don't have to worry about the nasty chemicals in the bag and unpronounceable ingredients!
For a sweet treat, I found the most addictive caramel popcorn recipe:

(No need to enter me in the giveaway, though)
Not trying to skip the scales but I love to have orange juice with my popcorn and think of my dearest bestest friend!
Plus you know how much my parents LOVE popcorn. You could bathe a baby in their popcorn bowl!
Love you!
I would love to try it. We eat a lot of popcorn cooked n an air popper.
I know the giveaway is closed, but your post is a blast from the past. Sunday nights, Wonderful World of Disney, a blanket on the floor, and 5 kids on their stomachs eating popcorn. I remember it like it was yesterday. Thanks for the memory.
